system hangs on "turning off swap"

Hi,

my system does not shut down properly. :-(
It hangs on after displaying "turning off swap"
The problem occur with a probability of approx 10%,
that is, it is not completely reprodubible.
Any idea what to llook for ?

linux slackware 9.1 with kernel 2.6.6
athalon xp 2100+
256 Mb ram
