Default USB UPS Setup

I attempted to follow the instructions for installing the Energizer UPS driver,
but was unsuccessful. This is hardly surprising, given that if you delete the
line in the hiddev.c AS WRITTEN, it won't even compile. If you instead delete
enough to prevent a compile error, the UPS still won't communicate with the USB
port.

Has anyone actually configured this UPS to run under Linux? If so, HOW?
