Default vsftpd - Syslog Errors

Apologies if this topic has been covered.

When I look at /var/log/messages - I see a ton of:

vsftpd(pam_unix)[11070]: authentication failure; logname= uid=0 euid=0
tty= ruser= rhost=

vsftpd(pam_unix)[11070]: check pass; user unknown

· Note: rhost= has the gateways ip

Why is root trying to log into my ftp??

Has anyone seen this and shed some light in helping me in resolving
this annoying error.

Thanks in advance,
Alain
