Default Winmodem not supported

I have a ComOne Discovery V.90 MC220 PCMCIA modem that, according to Linmodem, doesn't have support
for Linux.
Is there a way to install it anyway?
Thanks,

What is the antecedant of "it"?

If you mean install Linux, sure: go right ahead. Just no modem.

If you mean install the modem, you could leave the card plugged in. Just
that Linux will not support it.

If you want a Linux-only system with a working modem, you might give
that brain-damaged WinModem to your worst enemy and buy a real one, such
as U.S.Robotics 5610B.

Try going to the site: http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/, and downloading
the scanmodem script. Untar and run the script. It will give you
directions on what to do.

ERROR ALERT!

The com1 discovery is the MC221, and is a conextant chipset winmodem.

The MC220 is a Platinum 4 in 1 which is a full modem, not a windmodem.

www.com1.fr

com1 say the mc221 is a conexant chipset, its a feature that the chipset is
cheap, and that saves you money.

You would think that the linux conexant driver should work, because many of
the conexant chipset pcmcia cards listed at the following URL are said to
work. There's a good chance...

http://www.idir.net/~gromitkc/pcmcia_list.html

Why wouldnt all the conexant chipset pcmcia cards work with the generic
driver?
