| Hi After a week of struggling at home, I'm at the end of my tether trying to get my work laptop to connect via wireless under FC3. Sadly, it worked first time under Windows XP which isn't my prefered OS ;-( The laptop is a Dell Latitude D600 running Fedora Core 3 and the ipw2200 driver. I've tried both compilation from source and RPMs. I'm currently using RPMs The key appears to change I can't find crc32.ko but arc4 gets loaded OK Any ideas? Thanks Cheers Peter ---------------- $rpm -qa | sort | grep ipw220 ipw2200-1.0.0-23.rhfc3.at ipw2200-firmware-2.2-5.at ipw2200-kmdl-2.6.10-1.770_FC3-1.0.0-23.rhfc3.at ipw2200-kmdl-2.6.11-1.14_FC3-1.0.0-23.rhfc3.at $ uname -a Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.11-1.14_FC3 The problem may be that he encrypted key gets changed but not sure From dmesg ========== ipw2200: Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200/2915 Network Driver, 1.0.0 ipw2200: Copyright(c) 2003-2004 Intel Corporation PCI: Found IRQ 11 for device 0000:02:03.0 PCI: Sharing IRQ 11 with 0000:00:1f.5 PCI: Sharing IRQ 11 with 0000:00:1f.6 ipw2200: Detected Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection # iwconfig eth1 unassociated ESSID Mode:Managed Channel=0 Access Point: 00:00:00:00:00:00 Bit Rate=0 kb/s Tx-Power=20 dBm RTS thr Encryption key Power Management Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0 Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0 Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0 [root@localhost bin]# iwconfig eth1 key open [root@localhost bin]# iwconfig eth1 key D7-D1-F5-CD-90-DD-23-30-96-D9-26-48-B1 [root@localhost bin]# iwconfig eth1 enc on channel 11 [root@localhost bin]# iwconfig eth1 mode Managed [root@localhost bin]# iwconfig eth1 essid mont ap 00:0e:XX:9c:d4:XX [root@localhost bin]# iwconfig eth1 unassociated ESSID:"montan" Mode:Managed Frequency=2.462 GHz Access Point: 00:0E:XX:9C Bit Rate=0 kb/s Tx-Power=20 dBm RTS thr Encryption key Power Management Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0 Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0 Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0 so key appears to have changed # dhclient eth1 Internet Systems Consortium DHCP Client V3.0.1 stuff deleted No DHCPOFFERS received. I'll start to check the config file for your card, then, when the key is the correct one, just manually assign an IP to the card and see if you can connect with the AP. Davide -- No cookie for you! |

The rate isn't understood. ifup-wireless seems to pass RATE to iwconfig and iwconfig seems to only understand arguments like 11M, auto etc. So perhaps change RATE to 11M (to be safe) and then 54M if that works. Check the manual for iwconfig ... |

I would try to bring up the wireless manually first, e.g. for WEP iwconfig eth1 essid montan key your_wep_key enc on rate 54Mbps (w.o. slash, that's probably wrong in your ifcfg-eth1) ifconfig eth1 up dhcpcd eth1 If you use WPA you need a wpa client, don't know if the iwp2200 can use wpa_supplicant.
