| im sorry im in a hurry and wanted to get this out on the web... i know this isn't the correct news group but it seems google is having some problems.. Ok im trying to hook up my buffalo g54 airstation up to my ethernet connected PC, thats running slackware. I log into the router fine, and go through the wizard. 1st I click on the cable modem button, then i click on the automatic IP assignment option. The wizard the proceeds to say.. "WAN side IP address setup is being completed. Wait for a moment while the next page loads." I then get this message Enable the DHCP Server Changing settings to notify of a domain name obtained by WAN side DHCP server. * Renew the LAN side PC's IP Address to obtain the domain name. Im not to sure how to renew the LAN side PC's IP adress, so i tried killing the dhcpcd process, then i tried to run dhcpcd again. Next I proceeded with the setup wizard, this is where i get my error 1st it says checking for Intenet connectivity... Cable(Idle) it switches between idle and discovery after about 30 seconds i get this.. The connection was unsuccessful... Cable(Failed) ,please confirm. any help will do, thanks, James Barnett |

I did not have to do any configuring to the modem or router to get my networking working. I just plugged my cable modem in, waited for it to get it's IP address from my ISP. I then plugged the cable modem into the router (Make sure you use the Router cable), then turned on the router. My ethernet card(Wireless) is set for DHCP. Turned on laptop and it connected to the internet no problem. |
