| Hello, my new compter has an ATI Radion X600 SE video card (PCI Express / DVI out) I installated Fedora Core 4 kernel version is 2.6.12 now (after 'yum update') at first the computer hangs while booting, but after changing the default runlevel to 3, I'm able to boot in textmode. But when I try to start XWindows ('startx'), the system just hangs (ie: no more video signal). I tried to reconfigure the X-configuration, using # system-config-display --reconfig Even than, the system hangs. But after a reboot, I was able to retrieve the following logfile. < === Xorg.setup.log === (++) Log file: "/dev/null", Time: Mon Sep 5 21:03:26 2005 (++) Using config file: "/tmp/tmps73zijxorg.config" (WW) RADEON: No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:1:0:1) found FATAL: Module agpgart not found. [drm] failed to load kernel module "agpgart" (EE) RADEON(0): [dri] DRIScreenInit failed. Disabling DRI. mation. g DRI. mation. > does anyone have any idea how to get this problem solved ? BTW : this computer also has a buildin VGA-adapter. When I enable this one (bios-setting), I can get X to work using the "system-config-display --reconfig"-command. So, it has to be a problem with the pci-express card. thanks in advance for any assistence, kind regards, Koen. |
