| hello! I have to install Oracle on Linux on Fujitsu Siemens Primergy Econel 200 with LSI Logic Embedded SATA RAID. I choose CentOS 3 because Oracle supports Red Hat ES/AS 3. The problem is that there is no driver for this RAID on x86_64 architecture. So I have 2 options: - x86_64 with software RAID - i386 with hardware RAID Is the gain of 64bit system and Oracle worth sacrifing hardware RAID ? TIA. mm |

But making Oracle work fully with 64-bit CPU's may be a big chunk of work for you. I've also had mixed results with LSI controllers. If you want a bog-standard controller with good Linux support, get Adaptec. If you want the premium with Linux support, get 3Ware. Stay away from Promise. |
