| Dear all, Until the installation of FC6 this morning, I have used modem in FC5 without any problem. But in FC6, the modem does not respond at all. Query modem from kppp shows modem detection (even when it is turned off!!!), but modem query result remains empty. That made me suspect that ttyS0 is pointing to something else. As is evidenced by the output from dmesg, Xen virtual console successfully installed as ttyS0 I have tried not starting the xend daemon at boot time, but that did not work. Could any kind soul tell me how can I make my modem work. It is an external modem and has given me service for several years (starting with RH6) without any problem. Thanks in advance. |

I installed and started using FC6 in the same way I have installed RH4-FC5. And now I am stuck with something which I had no intention of starting or allocating the serial port at all. |

Putting xencons=off in grub prevented xen from grabbing ttyS0, but still my modem remains undected. kppp simply says unable to detect modem (as well as minicom). |

Try installing a non xen kernel and using that instead. If this works, you can remove the xen kernel safely. ne... -- Registered Linux User # 125653 (http://counter.li.org) Certified: 75% bastard, 42% of which is tard. http://www.thespark.com/bastardtest |
