Default Sql Server 2000 causing TCP/IP to crash?

I installed Sql Server 2000 on a Windows 2003 machine and everything
appeared to be fine. It has Sql Server SP4 and Windows 2003 SP1 installed.
The problem occurs whenever I use Enterprise Manager or Query Analyzer for
more than a few minutes. After a while, all internet connectivity on the
server machine is broken. I cannot connect to it through Enterprise Manager,
and on the machine itself, nothing related to the internet works at all.
There are no errors in the Windows log or the Sql log. Disabling and
enabling the Ethernet adapter fixes connectivity, until the next time I use
Enterprise Manager for a while. What is going on?

The machine is a Dell PowerEdge SC420 with a BroadCom NetXtreme Gigabit
adapter and Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition.

Hi

You don't say if EM is being run from the same machine, then if you have
shared memory set in the client network configuration utility it may not be
using it.

You may want to try using a different driver or card and see if it still
happens. This is probably not an issue with the the software.

Hi,
i would suggest to check connectivity of both machines with Ping (if
continuously pinging or not) and uncheck "Force Protocol Encryption "
and "Enable Shared Memory Protocol "
ensure mdac versions are same on both pcs..

or please be more specific in yourn questions !
