Default Server Components Can't Be Installed

I have a Windows XP machine that I have run SQL Server on in the past.
I recently re-formatted the hard drive and re-installed XP from scratch,
and now when I try to re-install SQL Server 2000, I get an error message
saying that the "server component is not supported on this operating
system. Only client components will be available for installation." I
have a hard time understanding why the server components can't be
installed on XP, especially since I've installed them before on this
same machine.

Can anyone explain why this might be, and what I can do (if anything) so
that it can be installed again?

Thanks.

Steve

Default Re: Server Components Can't Be Installed

What version of SQL Server are you installing? Developer, Personal,
and MSDE are the only versions that run on XP.
