| Sun hides any information about compatibility of peripheral devices with SUN hardware. The reason is very clear: SUN's price is much more expensive than original price. For example when one of my users ordered optional CD-RW drive for Blade 150, SUN sent Aopen CRW5232 drive. I checked the price via pricegrabber.com and see: Aopen CRW5232 from SUN: $295 Aopen CRW5232 from newegg.com: $25 You never find the drive model in SUN's Hardware handbook before you purchase it. And when we tried to return this drive, becaused price for this model is too expensive, SUN replies: SUN cannot accept opened box for return. I already buy additional disks and memory for SUN computers from 3rd party, Now you know that Aopen CRFW5232 should work in SUN Blade. For external DVD-RW drives sun.com/io gives reference to Addonics SUN-compatible external DVD-RW drives. Can anybody say which INTERNAL DVD-RW will work in Sun Blade 150, Solaris9? Thank you Andrei |

That's one of the advantages (pricewise) of the cheap Sun Blades, they don't require generally expensive (or in the case of DVD writers impossible to find) SCSI drives. Steve |

The Sun Store is not supposed to be a source of technical information, rather it is for pricing (that's why it's called a store). If you want to know the specifications of the system or its components then you need to use the system handbook located on http://sunsolve.sun.com . http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_pub..._DVD.html#6463 This lists the model #. Cross-refs to the technical data would help (as would significantly lower prices, but that's another story).
