Default ? Fram buffer for Ultra 5

I have an Ultra 5 and am using the built-in display driver. Is there a
reasonably
priced card that I can use to improve the display. The existing one is
limited on
colors and scan lines that I can use.

Thanks

The PGX64 or XVR100 are probably your best bets.

In addition to Rich, XVR-500 on Ebay is probably the best performing board.

PKX64, is not a very good board, XVR 500 is better for the same money.

I just tried this and my U5 don't even recognized the card.
I think the OBP is too old for the card...

Have you installed the latest OBP?

I am not sure about whan Openboot requires, but it is not the forth code
on the card? or what else is needed?

And once you get Solaris up, should not X work then, the driver for XVR
500 can't depend on the Openboot, or?

This sounds like a subject for Alan or Casper

Sure...

Now I will try a Expert3d Lite, which has arrived just today...

I thought of the PCI-Device-ID...

There isn't even an entry in the output of "prtconf". A Linux-PC
recognizes the card on the bus.

Surely...

I just sold the XVR-500 to the price I bought it and will now
try an Expert3D Lite... We'll see...

Don't look at me - I would have thought it would have worked, but I've
never tried it myself.
